Washington University’s 27th Annual Pow Wow: Honoring our ancestors’ sacrifice:

March 7, 2017

Empowering children today to be the leaders of tomorrow

An annual Washington University event that ranks as one of the finest of its kind, the traditional American Indian Pow Wow each spring, needs volunteers to support many aspects of the one-day gathering.

The 27th Annual Washington University in St. Louis Pow Wow will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Washington University Athletic Complex. The Pow Wow is free and open to the public. The family friendly event has earned a reputation as one of the best events of its kind in the St. Louis area, attracting thousands of visitors each year.

A Pow Wow is a contemporary social gathering and celebration of community featuring American Indian drum music, songs, dance, foods, as well as American Indian vendors showing and selling their arts and crafts. Volunteers will be able to take advantage of the event from a unique perspective.

Members of the Pow Wow committee are seeking volunteers to assist with the logistical aspects of the event. Volunteers are needed for setup, support for errands, supplies, facilities, face painting, clean-up, and various other duties.

Organizers are asking volunteers to spend a minimum three-hour block of time at the Pow Wow for their assigned volunteer role. Volunteer hours begin at 7:00 am and end around 10:00 pm. Interested volunteers may sign up at https://goo.gl/forms/kMjFbHhdIJdTChK22.
