The newly expanded Tropics Event Pavilion at the Kansas City Zoo opened for rental on August 7, 2019, and the outdoor venue behind the Tropics buildings set the stage for picnics and private gatherings of all sizes. Featuring a picnic-style menu, the Tropics Event Pavilion will serve a wide range of guests, from a family-style cook-out to traditional Kansas City BBQ and more seasonal chilled offerings such as summer salads featuring the freshest bounty of each season.
“We look forward to unveiling this fantastic venue to the Kansas City area,” said Randy Wisthoff, Kansas City Zoo Executive Director and CEO. “The Kansas City Zoo attracts so many groups from our community, and now we have an ideal space for those looking to host creative events.”
The open-tent venue accommodates up to 2,000 and has seating for 600. It is available from April through October.
