In Cape Girardeau, there are three hotels currently in different stages of development. Two of the hotels are on track to open either by the end of 2023 or early 2024, while the third hotel is making steady progress.

The Century Casino hotel is making significant headway, with construction crews actively working on both its interior and exterior across various floors. The foundation work for this six-story, 68,000-square-foot hotel commenced in September 2022, creating 69 rooms offering picturesque views of the river and Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge. It is expected to welcome its first guests in early 2024.

Another hotel currently under construction is the Fairfield Inn & Suites at Cape West Crossings along I-55. This establishment will boast 103 rooms and is slated to open in late December 2023 or early January 2024.

A third hotel in the pipeline for Cape Girardeau is a TRU by Hilton, which is being developed near the SportsPlex along I-55 by the Midamerica Hotels Corporation. This 92-room facility has recently started its construction phase and is anticipated to create over 20 new jobs.

In total, these three hotels will add 264 guest rooms to the City of Cape Girardeau. Brenda Newbern, Executive Director of VisitCape, highlighted that these new additions will alleviate the shortage of accommodations during weekend events, enabling more activities and supporting sporting events, and also solicit more conferences during the weekdays.
