After closing seven hotels in 2020, Visit Wichita recently announced that the city will be opening three new hotels in 2022.
The first property will be an 118-room AC Marriott Hotel in the currently vacant 11-story Broadway Plaza building, projected to open in December.
Near Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, there is currently a proposed $15-million, full-service hotel with at least 100 rooms. It will be located on the lot north of the Hampton Inn & Suites off West Harry Street.
The final property will be a hotel with at least 150 rooms, funded by the minor-league Wind Surge baseball team and the Overland Park-based EPC Real Estate. The property will include eight stories and will be located to the east of Riverfront Stadium on Maple and McLean.
More hotel plans in Wichita are underway and will be located along the city’s riverfront.
