For nearly 100 years, the Fabulous Fox Theatre has supplied St. Louis with grand cinema, elaborate Broadway stage productions, dazzling concerts, and Hollywood-esque galas. The glitz and glamour of the theatre brought millions of people through its shiny brass doors and continues to bring versatile shows and performances to its notorious stage today. While the Fox Theatre is most well-known for its theatre and musical productions, there is another side to the theatre– a venue space for corporate and business events.
More Than a Theatre
A unique space that often gets overlooked, the Fabulous Fox Theatre has more to offer than its theatrical productions. Every year, they host a variety of corporations and businesses for private events, such as anniversaries, presentations, milestones, and holiday parties. Some of their biggest clients are Edward Jones, Wells Fargo Advisors, Moneta Group, US Bank, and Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Select.
Working around the Broadway show season, which runs from September through June, the Fox Theatre has the best event availability during weekdays. “We usually have a better chance of [booking events] during the week. That’s where we see a lot of corporations will come in the fall and early winter,” Madeline Hantak, Events Manager at Fox Associates, explains. “December is usually completely booked, and the weekend [events] have to be booked a year in advance.”
While the Fox Theatre’s schedule is busy during the fall and winter months with performances, the time of year the Fox does not see as many events is the summer season. “Our most open [availability] is in the summer. We just don’t see a lot of corporations doing bigger events in the summer. Usually, we get a lot in the fall and late November,” Hantak expresses.
Events Spaces and Accommodations
The 56,630-square-foot theatre has multiple spaces that can be used for an event. The theatre holds 4,500 seats, and the lobbies can hold a maximum occupancy of 500 people. “It depends on what [someone] is looking for. We can do 250-300 if everyone wants to be in one area. We’ve done events for 500, it just has to be split among the floors,” Hantak explains. Along with the theatre and the floor lobbies, events can also incorporate the main stage, the Curtain Call Lounge for cocktail hours, and Peacock Alley for a walk-through historic theatre art. Tours of the theatre can also be offered during the event for an extra unique experience.
From catering to lighting to audio/visual equipment, the Fox Theatre does everything in-house. “The great thing about [the Fox] is they do everything in-house. All of the catering, linens, tables, all of that stuff is in-house, which made it easier rather than working with five different vendors,” Brett Murray, former Marketing Manager for Berkshire Hathaway, says. “The Fox has a fantastic team and staff to work with and a great inner infrastructure [for any event].”
The flexibility the theatre displays for its clients is a value that satisfies anyone looking to book an event. Whether the event is large or small or requires more materials than others, the Fox remains flexible and ready to accommodate whatever the events need. “The Fox is not only a unique, gorgeous space that you’ll have great memories in but [also] their fantastic staff and everything they do to bend over backward for their events. Any little thing you’d want, they are able to accommodate and make it work,” Murray explains.
Weddings and Receptions
Other popular events booked at the Fox Theatre are weddings. Similarly, to the corporate side of events, the theatre is flexible for any type and size of wedding. The lobbies and main stage offer enough space for the receptions and ceremonies or both. Murray, who booked his wedding at the theatre after having a great corporate event experience with them in 2018, had his wedding ceremony on the grand staircase and reception in the main lobby. “The Fox has such useable space and multiple levels (lobbies) you can use. Thinking outside the box and how you can utilize the space is a very fun experiment.”
An Experience to Remember
The Fabulous Fox Theatre offers more than scenic architecture and extravagant Broadway productions. The theatre makes any corporate event a showstopping experience that will not be forgotten. “A lot of people don’t realize we do private events since we’re a theatre,” Hantak expresses. “But it’s a very flexible, fun, and unique space where you’ll get more than you would at a banquet room.”
