On October 16th, 2018 the St. Louis Business Travel Association (STLBTA) hosted their annual Education Day at the Marriott St. Louis West. The various speakers and topics made for a well-rounded and enriching day for all attendees.
The morning began with a presentation on the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence for travel with Ivan Iman from Adelman Travel. The attendees moved into an afternoon of breakout sessions and “speed dating” with representatives from major airlines that fly out of St. Louis’ Lambert Airport. The breakout sessions included topics on messaging and branding in your business and productivity.
The lunch presentation centered on the problem of Human Trafficking and how it relates to professionals in the business travel industry. Congresswomen Ann Wagner made an appearance to give the audience an update about the effects of FOSTA (the Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act). The congresswoman also detailed other ways she and her team have been working with local agencies, organizations, and companies to make sure employees from the variety of industries who have the opportunity to break the cycle of human trafficking–such as taxicab and rideshare service drivers–are well equipped with signs to look for and an action plan for if they suspect someone they come in contact with is being trafficked.
Attendees were then treated to a wonderful panel presentation on Human Trafficking, moderated by KMOV’s very own Laura Hettiger. On the panel was Sergeant Adam Kavanaugh from St. Louis County Police, Rich Terry from Delta Airlines, Javier Cardenas with The Covering House, and John Heimburger of the American Society of Travel Advisors. Each panelist spoke about their experience working to curtail Human Trafficking from their respective positions.
Missouri Meetings & Events was a proud sponsor of this event. Don’t miss next year’s education day!
