As reported by KQ2 and News-Press NOW, St. Joseph, Missouri, is advancing plans for a major hospitality and meetings development with the proposed issuance of $60 million in revenue bonds to support the construction of two boutique hotels and a full-service conference center on Frederick Avenue.
The project would introduce 249 hotel rooms and approximately 12,640 square feet of conference and ballroom space, significantly expanding the city’s capacity to host corporate meetings, regional conventions, and business events. The site—formerly home to the Ramada Inn, Americas Value Inn, and Applebee’s—will also feature fitness centers, restaurants, pools, and 300+ parking spaces.
This development would position St. Joseph to better accommodate overflow from Kansas City’s 2026 World Cup visitors and provide the kind of integrated hotel-conference space increasingly sought by planners.
If approved, the project will be financed through tax-incentivized bonds repaid by generated revenue, alongside property and sales tax exemptions for developers.
