Event planners seeking flexible downtown spaces have a new option with the fall opening of Biggs Downtown, a 21-and-older bar and event venue at 312 South Ave.

Venue Features, Programming, and Suitability

The nearly 5,000-square-foot space, formerly Ernie Biggs Dueling Piano Bar, holds about 300 guests. It is designed for live music, theater productions, and private or corporate gatherings. Owners Ethan and Hailey Brown retained the building’s iconic murals, including a Chicago skyline feature that supports a theatrical atmosphere.

The venue hosts both ticketed performances and cover-charge events, with proceeds directed to artists. This setup suits planner-curated experiences that blend entertainment and networking. Ethan Brown brings two decades of entertainment industry experience; Hailey Brown has extensive theater production background. The space positions itself as a home for local talent and unexpected programming in Springfield’s historic corridor.
