A Meeting and Event Venue Sure to Inspire
By Astrid Zeppenfeld
Unity Village, right next to Lee’s Summit and just outside Kansas City, Missouri, is not just a meeting and event venue—it’s a dream destination with its own name and zip code! If you want your next event to be more than a cookie-cutter business meeting, Unity Village offers a beautiful, serene campus with the creative atmosphere to plan a meeting or conference your attendees will remember for a long time.
Multiple Indoor and Outdoor Meeting and Event Spaces
This full-service property includes a 50-room hotel and three historic Airbnb homes as rentals for larger groups. Sandy Eastwood, Senior Communications Manager for Unity Village, explains, “Sometimes, people prefer the Airbnb homes for family reunions or smaller company retreats.”
For organizations that prefer outdoor events, in addition to standard meeting rooms among the ten indoor meeting spaces, there are also three outdoor spaces for business gatherings. The Fountain Courtyard is one of those outdoor spaces. It is a stunning display of nature and fountains. Lush greenery has been paired with a fountain the length of a football field, creating a tranquility that would inspire creativity at any business gathering. This area can accommodate 300-800 guests. For smaller outdoor meetings, the Atrium and Garden can hold up to 120 attendees, and Lowell’s Garden Terrace can accommodate 120–130 people as well.
If your group does not want to deviate from the comfort of an air-conditioned meeting space this summer, there are—of course—plenty of indoor opportunities for a successful meeting. Unique spaces for up to 100 seated attendees and up to 300 theater-style are the Fillmore Chapel and the Atrium Chapel, respectively. There are also two ballrooms to choose from; one provides capacity for up to 120 people, while the Grand Ballroom can hold up to 350 for dinner and even 450 seated for cocktail hour.
Expecting more than 350 guests? The R.D. Goppert Event Center is the largest meeting and event space at Unity Village and can accommodate up to 1,000. With its many large windows, the atmosphere is light and airy, helping participants tap into their creative resources throughout the event.
Team Building Opportunities Abound
Unity Village offers a beautiful nine-hole, par 36 golf course for the classic business and team-building possibility. You can also plan breakout sessions around the Labyrinth. Walk through the spiral labyrinth and find your way back out. It is a slow-paced activity, so it’s an ideal spot to reflect and reset between sessions. The casual walker as well as the competitive runner can find a 2.5-mile nature trail with gorgeous scenery.
In addition to all these spaces where your attendees can be active, there is also a state-of-the-art fitness center at your disposal.
Stunning Venue—Exceptional Service
Megan Gray, Director of Special Events at Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce, hosts many different events at Unity Village. Gray raves about the beauty of the meeting and event space at Unity Village, as well as the exceptional service. She states, “Unity Village is an amazing community partner. They have a beautiful facility, and everybody I have encountered there has been very gracious, kind, and helpful. They’re creative as well, bringing good insight and experience to your event. I really appreciate what they do for our community and the spaces that they have. As a chamber of commerce, we have a lot of different needs—from large-scale events to smaller meetings to little round-table events. Anytime we call Unity Village and tell them what kind of event we’re thinking about hosting, they are always quick to offer the perfect space for us to use.” Gray elaborates how the staff at Unity Village will go through all the space options for both the type of event as well as the number of participants and concludes, “It’s really nice to have that flexibility all in one space.”

Superior Technology
Lastly, Gray surmises that Unity Village has the technology to make her events there run smoothly. She states, “We actually moved one of our events to Unity Village because, at our previous space, we had a couple of hiccups with the technology—the sound wasn’t working one time, the videos couldn’t play at the speed they needed to, so we switched purposefully to the Goppert Center at Unity Village, knowing that we could trust their system to do all the things that we needed it to do.”
