Casa Don Alfonso is pleased to present an extraordinary opportunity to enjoy the cuisine and history of Michelin-starred Don Alfonso 1890, with Chef Ernesto and Mario Iaccarino this June. While guests and gourmands travel from all over the world to visit the beloved boutique hotel and restaurant in southern Italy, Chef Ernesto and Mario will present St. Louis diners with a week-long celebration of world-class experiences, no passport required. Chef Ernesto has overseen the kitchen of Don Alfonso 1890 since 2003, being awarded two-Michelin stars during his tenure. Together with his family, Chef Ernesto has opened restaurants all over the world which follow the philosophy of Don Alfonso 1890.
The Summer in Sorrento celebration will begin Sunday, June 4th with an intimate hands-on cooking class led by Chef Ernesto. Guests will learn the behind-the-scenes history and techniques of classic dishes from the Don Alfonso 1890 kitchen such as Spaghetti Don Alfonso 1890 and Grandfather Alfonso’s Strascinatti. The class is priced at $250 per person and will be held from 2:30-5:30 pm, with limited space available.
The next evening, on Monday, June 5th, Chef Ernesto and Mario will welcome guests with a four-course tasting menu, celebrating the past 50 years of Don Alfonso 1890. The menu ($275 per person) will include signature dishes of the Don Alfonso 1890 kitchen like Deep Fried Lobster Sweet and Sour, Acidula. There will be three seating times available at 6 pm, 6:30 pm, and 7 pm with a limit of 20 guests per seating. Wine pairings will also be available to complement the menu.For those looking for an even more personalized experience, the private dining room will be transformed into “An Evening with Ernesto” June 8-10, with a custom six-course tasting menu ($500 per person) served alongside wine pairings from Casa Don Alfonso’s sommelier Martin Griffin. Mario and Chef Ernesto will enchant guests with stories of their family from over the years as well as the exciting details of new ventures that the Iaccarino family has on the horizon.
