The Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Mo., has named Frederik Houben director of sales and marketing. Houben has more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently, he served as regional director of sales and marketing for Warwick International Hotels, North America and Bahamas.
He began his career with Sheraton Hotels in Brazil, and later worked for companies including Richfield Hospitality and Hilton Hotels. He also has taught courses in meeting and convention services in Chicago.
Katie Blanton has joined Claria Clean as a business development and marketing specialist. Claria Clean is a St. Louis-based damage restoration company. Blanton has eight years of sales experience. Prior to joining Claria Clean, she worked as a district sales manager at ADP, selling human capital management solutions to mid-sized businesses.She started her professional career at Enterprise Rent-ACar, managing branch locations. Blanton has a bachelor’s degree in communications from Missouri State University.
Effective January 1, 2016, Chuck Martin will begin serving as executive director of the Jefferson City-based Missouri Travel Council. The nonprofit council provides economic, social and educational benefits to its membership in an effort to strengthen the state’s tourism industry. Martin will retire in December 2015 from his current post of Cape Girardeau CVB executive director, a position he has held for the past 13 years.
Amanda Joiner has been named general manager for the Ritz-Carlton St. Louis Hotel in Clayton, Mo. Joiner has an extensive history with Ritz-Carlton properties, having first worked for the company’s Atlanta hotel in the early 1990s. She moved to another hotel brand for a short period, then returned to a joint sales and marketing post with the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta and Ritz-Carlton Buckhead. She was named senior corporate director of sales planning and support for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. in 2012, and was announced as its St. Louis hotel’s new GM in October 2015.
Springfield CVB vice president Laura Whisler has been named to the 2015-2016 Signature Class 31 of Leadership Springfield. The leadership development program is affiliated with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. It offers participants a deeper understanding of community issues.
