GLOBAL SPECTRUM’S CHARDEAN OLSEN RECEIVES CERTIFIED MEETING PLANNER DESIGNATION FROM CONVENTION INDUSTRY COUNCIL
Chardean Olsen, Event Manager for Global Spectrum at the Saint Charles Convention Center, has received her Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) designation by the Convention Industry Council. The foremost certification of the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry, the CMP program recognizes individuals who have achieved the industry’s highest standard of professionalism.
“Chardean will be our second event manager and the third employee on staff at the Saint Charles Convention Center to attain the CMP designation,” says Shura Garnett, General Manager and Regional Vice President for Global Spectrum at the facility. “We are very proud of her achievement, as it speaks to her level of professionalism and her dedication to the industry. We look forward to her contributions to the facility and industry as a whole.”
Through the CMP program, individuals who are employed in meeting management pursue continuing education, increase their industry involvement, and gain industry-wide recognition. The requirements for certification are based on professional experience and a written examination.
Olsen becomes one of more than 14,000 individuals in 36 countries and territories to have earned the CMP designation.
Global Spectrum (a part of Comcast-Spectacor) manages the Saint Charles Convention Center, as well as more than 100 other public assembly facilities around the world. Olsen has been with Global Spectrum at the Saint Charles Convention Center for more than seven years. Starting out as the box office manager, she was promoted to event manager in 2007, and handles a variety of trade shows, consumer shows, religious, family, and political events at the Center. She also is the current Missouri state representative for IAVM, the International Association of Venue Managers.
LISA PEREZ, CMP JOINS THE SPRINGFIELD, MO., CVB AS CONVENTION SALES MANAGER
The Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau welcomes its newest staff member, Lisa Perez, CMP, as a convention sales manager.
Prior to joining the staff of the Springfield CVB, Perez worked at the Branson CVB. Her experience includes several years in the travel industry, including working as a meeting planner in Florida. Lisa will handle the state association and government market segments along with other groups.
She replaces Diane Gillespie, who left the bureau to become the executive director of the Jefferson City CVB.
ROZANNA BENZ JOINS HERMANNHOF WINERY AND INN AT HERMANNHOF AS EVENT DIRECTOR
The Hermannhof Winery and Inn at Hermannhof in Hermann, Mo., has chosen Rozanna Benz for its new event director position. She will direct the sales and marketing efforts of corporate events, celebrations and meetings.
Prior to joining Hermannhof, Benz was the director of the Midwest Grape & Wine Conference for eight years. She brings specific knowledge and proven organizational skills that focus on the success of each event.
HILTONS OF BRANSON NAMES LISA JONES DIRECTOR OF SALES AND MARKETING
The Hiltons of Branson recently announced that Lisa Jones has been named the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Branson Convention Center, Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel, and the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing hotel.
“We’re very excited to welcome Lisa to the Hiltons of Branson family,” said Bill Derbins, general manager, Branson Convention Center and Hiltons of Branson. “Her experience, and passion for delivering the highest level of service to guests, make her a perfect fit not only for our properties, but for the entire Branson community as well.”
Ms. Jones has extensive experience in the hospitality industry, having served in several sales and managerial positions with Starwood Hotels, Ritz-Carlton and Marriott International before joining Hilton Worldwide in 2001. She comes to Branson having most recently served as Assistant Director of Sales for Hilton Americas-Houston.
“When I realized I had the opportunity to join the Hiltons of Branson and share in the rich Midwestern hospitality Branson offers to all of its visitors, I couldn’t pass it up,” said Jones. “My goal is to ensure our guests leave here with an amazing experience they want to remember, repeat and share with their friends and business partners.”
A two-time winner of Hilton Worldwide’s Circle of Excellence award, Lisa Jones is a volunteer with the YWCA battered women’s program, and a child sponsor through Compassion International. In her free time, she enjoys theater, crafts, and football with her extended family and friends.
JASON JORDAN JOINS THE ST. LOUIS CONVENTION & VISITORS COMMISSION
ST. LOUIS — February 25, 2013 — The St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission (SLCVC) has hired Jason Jordan as its Director of Sales. Jordan will assist the Vice President of Sales in planning and administering sales polices and managing sales solicitation for the sales team at the SLCVC.
Prior to joining the SLCVC, Jordan was Regional Director for Experient providing leadership to the over 25 National Account Managers based in the western half of the United States. Through his 20 years in the hospitality industry, Jordan has held sales and leadership positions in hotels and with intermediaries.
Jordan is a member of American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).
