Cape Girardeau Announces
Changes in Staff
After serving as the Director of Sales
for the Cape Girardeau Convention and
Visitors Bureau for 5 years, Sarah Vickery
has accepted the position of sales
manager with the Nashville Symphony
Center in Nashville, Tenn. While the
bureau wishes Sarah the best, it also welcomes
new additions to its staff.

 

 

Saverino Dana

Dana Saverino, a native of Swansea,
Ill., has accepted the position
of Director of Sales. Saverino
is a graduate of Southeast Missouri
State University with a Bachelor
of Science Degree in Public Relations
and Advertising. Most recently Dana
served as the Director of Public Relations
for the Cape Girardeau Convention
and Visitors Bureau. Prior to that
she helped organize and plan activities
for the Crystal City Business Improvement
District in Crystal City, VA, an
area bordering Reagan National Airport
just outside of Washington, D. C.

DohogneLane Stacy

Stacy Dohogne Lane, a Cape Girardeau
native, has accepted the position
of Director of Public Relations for the CVB.
Dohogne Lane is a graduate of Southeast
Missouri State University with
a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public
Relations. Most recently she served
as the Community Liaison
for Continental Wound Center, an area
medical organization. Prior to that she
was a script writer and customer relations
specialist at Creative Edge, a local
ad agency.

 

Chaumette Vineyards &
Winery Appoints Corporate
Events Manager

Sandler Lynn

Chaumette Vineyards & Winery in
Ste. Genevieve has announced the
appointment of Lynne Sandler to
serve as corporate events manager, a
position created to accommodate
an increase in St. Louis-based corporate
event business that utilizes the winery’s
newly constructed Executive Boardroom
Villa. Sandler is responsible for
the recruitment, management and execution
of corporate functions on property,
particularly in handling multi-day
board retreats with overnight villa rentals,
dining as well as wine and culinary
team building exercises. Sandler has
more than twenty years of combined
experience in hotel administration and
management and corporate executive
relocation. She was most recently a general
manager at The Inn at Seven Gables
in Clayton and has worked for Wm.
French Buyer’s Real Estate Services in
St. Louis as a corporate relocation specialist.

 

CVB Staffer Earns CDME Certification from DMAI

Whisler Laura
Laura Whisler, marketing director at
the Springfield, Mo., Convention & Visitors
Bureau, earned the honor of Certified
Destination Management Executive
from Destination Marketing Association
International (DMAI).
The certification was presented at
the 2011 DMAI Annual Convention July
20-22 in New Orleans, where Whisler also
was honored as a DMAI “30 Under 30,”
which included free conference registration
and hotel accommodations.

The CDME is recognized in the destination
marketing industry as its highest
educational achievement. The certification
process includes completion of five
courses and a final exam. The program
focuses on vision, leadership, productivity
and implementation of business strategies.

Whisler has worked at the Springfield
CVB since 2002, first as communications
coordinator, then partner development
manager. She was promoted
to marketing director in 2007. Her responsibilities
include leading a team of
six, managing a more than $1 million
advertising budget and overseeing operations
of three tourist information centers.
Whisler, a native of Eureka, Mo.,
is a 2001 graduate of Southwest Baptist
University in Bolivar, Mo.

Whisler is the third Springfield CVB
staff member to earn the certification.
President Tracy Kimberlin earned certification
in 2005 and sales director Dana
Maugans earned certification in 2009.
Whisler is among the youngest in the
world to earn a CDME.
