The International Special Events Society (ISES) is a peer-to-peer group that brings together event professionals from a variety of practices including catering, event planning, decorating, audio-visual, convention coordination and hotel sales.
Through monthly meetings, a code of ethics, professional recognition and industry certification, ISES provides event professionals with the tools necessary to produce superior results for employers and clients. The organization encourages members to look at the bigger picture of the event instead of the small element they may manage.
Ethics are an integral part of the ISES mission. The organization has developed the “ISES Principles of Professional Conduct and Ethics.” Each and every member promises to abide by this code of conduct. This gives clients who choose an ISES professional peace of mind that they will have not only a quality event professional committed to excellence, but also someone who conducts every business interaction with integrity and honesty. This code guides contracts, insurance decisions, relationships with vendors, professional growth, negotiations, employee relations and safety, along with numerous other elements of event management.
ISES brings together 4,000 members in 41 active chapters and five forming chapters around the world.
As with any professional membership, an ISES membership offers numerous benefits ranging from networking opportunities to educational resources. Every year the organization recognizes outstanding member achievements through the ISES Espirit Awards. The awards honor the “spirit of excellence” in many areas of expertise from non-profit events to technical production.
ISES also offers members the opportunity to receive certification as a leading event professional through the Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) designation. The CSEP designation is earned through education, performance, experience and service to the industry. It demonstrates a commitment to ethical conduct and high service standards.
St. Louis Chapter
The state of Missouri has one ISES chapter. Formed in 1996, the Missouri Chapter was developed after four years of hard work on the part of a small core group of caterers and event planners. Recently renamed the St. Louis Chapter, it currently has more than 100 members and is constantly growing.
