Established in 1962, the Missouri Travel Council (MTC) is recognized as the state’s oldest tourism organization. Led by organization president Beth Mead, MTC strives to make hospitality the greatest industry in Missouri by presenting a wide range of benefits to its members.
MTC organizes four Sales Marketing events each year, including the Group Travel Exchange, Missouri Event Summit, Sports Travel Exchange, and Tourism Tradeshow. Members have an opportunity to network with other tourism professionals and book premium business at these events.
This tourism organization has a strong legislative focus, aiming to increase revenue and funding within the industry and state. According to Missouri Division of Tourism 2015 annual report, “The state received $3.98 in state tax revenue for every dollar invested in the Missouri Division of Tourism.” MTC continually educates its state legislators on the importance of oversight and regulation, striving to fund Missouri’s economy through tourism even more.
In addition to Tourism Workshops and the Missouri Governor’s Conference on Tourism, this organization offers a selection of scholarships available to applicants interested in a hospitality career. And for those already in the tourism field, MTC has a section on their website dedicated to browsing and posting hospitality job positions.
