Nix Conference & Meeting Management of St. Louis was honored this week by ECPAT-USA as a Top Member of The Code to fight sex trafficking. Named for the second year in a row, Nix is among just 19 companies in the U.S. honored by ECPAT-USA “for their exceptional work to integrate child protection practices into their businesses in 2015.”
For the past five years, Nix has led a charge among meeting planners worldwide to help end sex trafficking in hotels. The social action organization Nix founded, Exchange Initiative, recently released a new, free mobile app called TraffickCam. It enables travelers to anonymously photograph hotel rooms and upload data to a national database used by law enforcement and investigators to locate victims and their pimps. The app has been downloaded nearly 70,000 times in recent weeks.
Nix presented a national conference, “IGNITE: Sparking Action Against Sex Trafficking,” in 2014 and initiated and signed the first-ever Meeting Planners Code of Conduct with ECPAT-USA in January 2012. Its staff members address the trafficking issue with management of every hotel where they do business.
