A new 24-room boutique hotel was recently proposed to the city of Clayton. The project, Hotel Demun, would involve the conversion of two apartment buildings on De Mun Ave. and an addition to the current structures. The historic property would serve out-of-town business travelers and extended business travel, along with general tourism, university visits, local staycations, and medical stays.
According to marketing materials for this project, Hotel Demun would provide amenities that promote local shops, restaurants, parks, and cultural attractions. This includes complimentary bikes for hotel guests to experience the neighborhood, support local businesses, and reduce car trips, along with a Hotel Demun Guidebook that shows attractions in the area.
Additionally, Hotel Demun would have The Library, which would serve as a café, market, coffee shop, and cocktail bar. Its menu will feature a curated menu of food and beverages by local bakeries, butchers, brewers, farmers, and purveyors.
This proposal had a conceptual review by the Clayton Plan Commission and Architectural Review Board on January 17th and is currently pending further review.
