Feel the wave produced by an Indigo-colored super nova of love when Indigo Nova takes the stage on September 8 at 8 p.m. Indigo Nova brings a power pop approach to modern hits along with a fresh spin on classic favorites, plus some original sounds of their own. Tickets are $15.
A Westport favorite, Global Beats Bazaar, returns September 16 at 8 p.m. The show will feature a wide range of talented dancers and dance styles featuring live music from Final Veil. Poetry narrations mixed with an artistic video installation will punctuate the sets of dancing and music on the playhouse’s larger than life LED screen. Dance styles to be featured include Egyptian bellydance, fusion bellydance with swords and wings, Spanish flamenco, classical Indian dance, modern American dance, and Middle Eastern folkloric cane dancing. Final Veil’s music blends styles from around the world with bellydance beats and includes rock and electronic dance influences as well. Tickets are $20.
“The Best: A Tina Turner Tribute,” starring Laka as Tina Turner, debuts at the Westport Playhouse September 17 for two performances at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m. Laka is an energetic soul singer based in St. Louis. She moves crowds through the power of her voice, and is referred to as dynamite by many. Laka has spent years studying Tina’s craft, embodying her iconic style into her own. The tribute will span from Tina’s early days with Ike to the stadium-filled success she found later in life, from humble beginnings to her triumph over insurmountable odds. This high-energy celebration of Tina’s life and legacy will have you dancing in your seat. Tickets are $35.
