The New Age of Meetings & Events will be the theme at this year’s Missouri Meetings and Events Expo, to be held May 20- 21, 2013 at the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel. While this will be our 13th consecutive year holding the Expo in St. Louis, it will be the first time MM&E has held the Expo at an airport location. We are expecting to make good use of the location by flying in some top speakers from all over the country. Plans are being finalized as of this writing with local ISES , MPI, EPA, STI AL, SG MP chapter members and others to have a hand in creating solid education and fascinating breakout sessions for you to explore. See the details on pages 20-26 and visit www.MissouriMeetingsAndEvents.com for the latest updates.

Now you won’t have to wait until the MM&E Expo May 20-21 to visit with members of various hospitality organizations. Saint Louis University is hosting “Hospitality SLUnited” – a premier networking event for St. Louis hospitality professionals – on April 18, 2013 (see details on page 41). In addition, the Saint Louis University Center for Workforce & Organizational Development has just released news that they will be offering the Healthcare Meeting Compliance Certificate. Writer Julie Johnson provides an inside look (page 28) at how and why this certificate was created.

While our legislators in the United States Capitol have been unable to reach an agreement and come together on the sequester, bridge building in Cape Girardeau has provided a new source of meeting and event traffic for the region. (cover story pg. 14).

We hope the few subtle changes in this issue to our magazine layout are helpful. The table of contents is now on a single page. Can you spot the other changes?

Enjoy the issue!
