Kansas City’s hotel landscape continues to grow, with 14 properties opening since 2023 and additional openings planned through 2027. The metropolitan area now offers more than 36,000 hotel rooms, including 6,500 committable rooms in the convention core, according to Visit KC.
New and renovated properties range from boutique options in historic neighborhoods to extended-stay and full-service hotels near major attractions, sports venues and mixed-use developments. Several feature meeting space suitable for groups, team offsites and events.
Recent openings
Among the latest additions is the dual-brand AC Hotel and Residence Inn by Marriott in Lenexa, Kansas, which opened this summer. The AC Hotel has 132 rooms and the Residence Inn has 129, with more than 5,000 square feet of combined meeting space near Lenexa City Center shopping and dining.
Downtown Kansas City gained 84 rooms with the opening of Aiden by Best Western Kansas City Downtown in the historic Kessler Building. The property sits near T-Mobile Center and the Power & Light District and includes a business center and on-site restaurant.
Hilton Garden Inn Kansas City Riverside opened in May with 134 rooms as part of the KC Current women’s soccer campus. It offers more than 2,300 square feet of meeting space, an indoor pool and casual dining. Nearby, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Overland Park South also opened in May with 99 rooms adjacent to AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk.
Upcoming openings
Several properties are slated to open in the coming months. Atwell Suites Liberty – Kansas City East is expected in October 2026 with 93 rooms near major employers and attractions including Arrowhead Stadium. Home2 Suites by Hilton Lee’s Summit is planned for November 2026 with 107 all-suite rooms inside the $900 million Discovery Park development.
River Market Hotel, the neighborhood’s first hotel, is targeted for fall 2026. The 45-room boutique property will feature design by Populous, a basement Italian restaurant and streetcar access. The Park Hotel on the Plaza, a renovated 1925 property, is also expected in fall 2026 with 121 rooms in the Country Club Plaza. TownePlace Suites by Marriott Lee’s Summit (112 rooms) is planned for 2026 as part of Discovery Park.
Further out, DoubleTree by Hilton KCI is scheduled for January 2027 with 208 rooms, 2,000 square feet of event space and a free airport shuttle. Home2 Suites by Hilton Kansas City Speedway is set for March 2027 with 99 suites near Kansas Speedway and Sporting Park. AC Hotel Overland Park is planned for 2027 with 126 rooms and more than 4,500 square feet of meeting space near the Aspiria campus.
