John Q. Hammons Hotels and Resorts files for bankruptcy

The St. Louis Business Journal has reported that Springfield-based John Q. Hammons Hotels and Resorts recently filed for bankruptcy protection.
The company was founded by the late John Q. Hammons. It owns and manages 35 hotels in 16 states for companies including Marriott, Sheraton and Embassy Suites.
The Embassy Suites by Hilton in St. Charles and the Chateau on the Lake in Branson are among Hammons’ properties.  Eight of the company’s facilities are in Missouri, and it employs about 300 people in the Springfield metro area.
