Industry Update: Joplin to be Home to New Hotel and more!

joplin_holiday_innJOPLIN TO BE HOME TO NEW HOTEL
KMG Hotels has announced the addition of a new multi-million- dollar, full-service Holiday Inn in Joplin. Construction  began in October 2016 on the 115-room facility, which is adjacent to existing Comfort Inn and Quality Inn properties. The Holiday Inn Joplin will offer an outdoor patio, indoor saltwater pool, full-service restaurant, and a large fitness facility. There will be a 3,500-square-foot prefunction and conference center area as well, with room for up to 350 guests


ballparks_of_the_ozarks_main_buildingLAKE OF THE OZARKS TO WELCOME NEW BASEBALL FACILITY
Ballpark Development LLC announced in August 2016 that it had broken ground on Ballparks of the Ozarks, a 239-acre, multi-million-dollar baseball park in Camden County. The facility will host tournaments for teams from all over the nation.
It will feature age-appropriate fields, turf infields, batting cages, bullpens, LED lighting, and visitor seating. The company expects the project to be complete in 2017. Visit for more information.


HoteLumiere is undergoing a $12 million renovation project that is expected to
transform its 294 suites. The first 150- room phase of the renovation effort was
scheduled for completion in fall 2016, and the entire project is slated to be finished
by the end of the year. The hotel is part of the Lumiere Place casino, lodging and dining complex in downtown St. Louis. Visit for more information

union-station-exteriorLHM, the hospitality development company that owns St. Louis Union Station,
announced it is planning a $45 million, 1 million-gallon St. Louis Aquarium facility
at the historic former railway terminal. The aquarium will cover 75,000 square feet, and is
expected to be complete by the end of 2018. It will serve as an anchor to LHM’s redevelopment
of the entire Union Station complex, a $70 million project featuring other family
attractions as well. The aquarium is expected to include unique event and gathering space.

MM&E partnered with the beautiful Wildwood Hotel in Wildwood, Mo., for an October
13 evening FAM tour at the property. Attendees enjoyed excellent food, beverages,
networking, and musical entertainment while touring the Wildwood, Mo., facility and
