Historic Sappington Park in Crestwood is adding a distinctive new space to the St. Louis-area event landscape with the reconstruction of the 1816 Joseph Sappington Log House.
Currently under construction at the park, the historic pioneer home is being rebuilt as a rustic educational and event venue, creating a new option for gatherings in a setting rooted in Missouri history. The reconstruction is part of an ongoing preservation effort by the Sappington House Foundation.
The project will complement the existing attractions at Historic Sappington Park, including the Thomas Sappington House Museum, the Library of Americana and Decorative Arts, and The Barn restaurant. Its historic character could make the log house an especially distinctive setting for intimate events, educational programs, group experiences, and history-focused gatherings.
To support the reconstruction project, the Sappington House Foundation will host RendeZ-PaLouZa: “1776 Meets 2026” on Sept. 25-26. The two-day benefit and artisan festival will include historical reenactments, live music, artisan demonstrations, museum tours, and other activities celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
That Friday evening will feature a VIP harvest feast at The Barn, along with wine, live music, historical programming, and a silent auction. On Saturday, the park will host a free public folkways festival featuring traditional crafts, music, historical presentations, and hands-on activities.
Once completed, the reconstructed Joseph Sappington Log House will give groups another way to experience Missouri history while adding a unique event setting to the St. Louis region.
