    Historic Hotel Belleville to be Renovated, According to Hotel Project Leads

    The Historic Hotel Belleville located at 16 S. Illinois Street in Belleville Illinois is beginning a $14.2 million renovation that will convert the property to the Lofts on the Square serviced residences and assisted living property.   The project will include 47 serviced residences, common areas, activity spaces, a library/computer lab, an exercise room and storage facilities. The six-story building will also include 3,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space on the first floor. The Southwestern Illinois Development Authority and Bywater Development Group are the developers on the project. General Contractor Holland Construction is heading up the renovation of the 90 year old building. Tim Simon is the project manager. The project is expected to be completed by July of 2021.
