For nearly two decades, the Hilton St. Louis Downtown at the Arch accommodated locals and travelers alike to celebrate the rich history and exciting future that St. Louis has to offer. Located in the Merchants–Laclede building at the intersection of Olive and 4th street, the Hilton St. Louis Downtown at the Arch underwent major renovations and rebranding in late 2022. On December 21, the hotel reopened its doors to the public, now known as The Pennywell, a Hilton Hotel.
The Penywell Hotel pays homage to the building’s historical past, keeping the original 1888 vault doors, vintage décor, and intricate architecture. These elements serve as reminders of the past and inspiration for the future. According to their website, “the hotel honors the spirit, purpose and hospitality that established our city and offers a compelling blend of historic and modern design details.”
Along with the suites and guest rooms, The Pennywell also provides amenities such as the Pennywell Drop + Kitchen, a fitness center, a business center, and sophisticated meeting and event space. The hotel offers over 5,000 square feet of event space with spectacular views of downtown St. Louis. There are 195 guest rooms and seven meeting spaces, including the Gateway Ballroom, which can accommodate over 100 people in the 1,377-square-foot space.
Right in the heart of St. Louis, The Pennywell Hotel has easy access to the most popular destinations, including Busch Stadium, the Gateway Arch National Park, the Fabulous Fox Theatre, and Forest Park.
As a symbol of entrepreneurship, dedication, and triumph, The Pennywell Hotel inspires everyone who walks through its doors to dream, embark, explore, and rest.
