Now that spring has sprung and warm weather is upon us, the outdoor events and activities are back in full swing at Cape Girardeau. Plan your next meeting at Cape, where the opportunities for fun activities and event space are endless. Check out these upcoming events that can help bring your meeting itinerary to the next level:
April 29: Muddy River Marathon; From 6 A.M. to 1 P.M., run in a 26.2 mile, 13.1 mile, or half marathon through Cape. The race’s proceeds benefit local non-profits who improve the health and well-being of those who call Southeast Missouri home. Over $40,000 has been donated to charities since the race’s inception.
June 19: Juneteenth Celebration; At 1 P.M., a celebration of Juneteenth will take place at Ivers Square. There will be artisanal craft vendors, social service organizations, food vendors, door prizes, and a kids area coordinated by Discovery Playhouse. In addition to renown poet, Ebony Stewart performing, the bands Ivas John, Cat Daddy’O and Pfunk Dat will also be performing throughout the day.
July 21: Missouri Solar Eclipse Expo Panel Discussion; Attend a panel discussion entitled “Get Ready for the 2023 and 2024 Solar Eclipses” for a kickoff with the Missouri Solar Eclipse Expo. Panelists include a representative from NASA, eclipse expert Fred Espenak (“Mr. Eclipse”),and a representative of the Missouri Department of Tourism, and a weather expert. The Panel Discussion will be held from 6:30 P.M – 8:00 P.M on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Tickets are FREE, but seating is limited. A virtual participation option will be available for those unable to attend in person.
July 22: Missouri Solar Eclipse Expo; The Missouri Solar Eclipse Expo will be held at the Show Me Center located on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. Doors open at 10 A.M. and close at 5 P.M. Tickets are FREE if you pre-register, and $3.00 at the door. You can expect exhibits, educational programs, door prizes, free solar eclipse glasses and handouts, expert speakers and activities .
