On April 20, the GBTA St. Louis Chapter had the privilege of listening to an airline industry update from Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, Director of St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Her update included statistics regarding flights/day, airline markets, and TSA volume. Rhonda also announced that Spirit Airlines will be servicing St. Louis starting May 27 with non-stop daily flights to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Pensacola. Fort Lauderdale is Spirit’s largest gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America. St. Louis is the seventh new city added to the Spirit network this year.
Additionally, the membership learned that STL is partnering with the Missouri Department of Revenue to facilitate obtaining a Real ID driver’s license. Starting May 1, the DOR will set up an issuing office in Terminal 1 baggage claim area by carousel 6. No appointment will be necessary, as service will be walk-in/first-come-first-serve. A Real ID-compliant driver’s license or ID card (or another form of accepted ID) will be required by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) beginning October 1, 2021. It is advised to check the Missouri DOR website to verify that all required paperwork is collected prior to going to the office. The DOR is also offering Real ID webinars to answer questions and raise awareness.
If you are ready to enjoy the fresh air and the view of a three-acre lake, our next event will be an in-person COVID responsible social at the Cedar Lake Cellars winery in Wright City on May 20. GBTA St. Louis members can attend for free, and guests are $20.00. Visit our website for more details and to register for what will sure to be an excellent opportunity to network and enjoy this little taste of “Napa Valley.”
