Are you ready for something new this summer? Well, you are in luck and you need look no further than the Resort and Yacht Club at Toad Cove, the newest resort complex to make its debut at the Lake of the Ozarks. Centrally located in Missouri, midway between St. Louis and Kansas City, this resort is a premier destination in a prime location. When asked why one should choose this resort over the many options available at the Lake of the Ozarks, Mike Barnett, General Manager of The Resort and Yacht Club at Toad Cove and the Entertainment Complex states, “This resort is the only luxury waterfront resort at the Lake of the Ozarks.” Situated next to the famous Horny Toad Entertainment Complex at the seven-mile marker of the Lake of the Ozarks, this luxury resort is slated to open in early June 2008. Guests who stay at Toad Cove’s Resort and Yacht Club will be treated to 116 high-quality, all-suite guest rooms spanning more than a quarter of a mile of premier shoreline.
The Resort and Yacht Club at Toad Cove is the latest edition to the entire Horny Toad Entertainment Complex, the brainchild of Merlyn Vandervort. In 1999, Vandervort discovered several pieces of property in extreme disrepair at the seven-mile marker of Lake of the Ozarks. Because of Vandervort’s vision, a 30,000-square-foot, four-level mega entertainment and dining complex on the water became a reality in 2005. It has become one of the hottest nightspots and restaurants at the Lake and was the beginning of his $60 million lakeside development.
Beginning with the stone fireplace in the lobby area, and continuing throughout the complex, guests will marvel at the attention to detail evident in these luxury accommodations. All suites at the Resort and Yacht Club boast scenic lake views and feature fireplaces, high-end cabinetry and moldings, built-in flat screen televisions, stereo tuners and surround sound, DVD and CD players, high-speed wireless Internet access, kitchenettes, king-size beds with high-thread count linens, lavish comforters, plush pillows and leather sofas with pull-out sleeper beds. As guests step out onto the balcony, they will overlook the full-service Yacht Club Marina complete with more than 100 slips to accommodate visitors arriving by boat.
The Resort and Yacht Club at Toad Cove is equipped to handle meeting groups from 20 to 200 attendees. Additionally, there is banquet capacity for up to 500 guests. With 9,000 square feet of meeting and function space, including a 6,600-square-foot ballroom that divides into three separate meeting spaces, an executive conference room, reception/breakout room with a scenic lake view, and outdoor seating and function space in which to accommodate your event, this resort has the ability to handle a variety of groups and a multitude of functions. For corporate meetings and group events, the space configures into five break-out rooms also with a capacity for 20 to 200 attendees. The resort features a state-of-the-art, 56-seat movie and presentation theater that is PowerPoint-ready and equipped with Surround Sound and laptop-friendly seating. All of these features translate into one-stop shopping when it comes to accommodating your group.
Positioning itself as an all-inclusive destination, or as Barnett sees it, “a turnkey resort,” The Resort and Yacht Club allows groups to remain on-site for all their needs and activities by offering amenities that are second to none. For the comfort of both the guests and meeting planners, this well-equipped facility includes amenities such as full-service, on-site catering offering anything from unique break service to a full-themed outdoor banquet function. There are also valet parking (including washing, waxing and detailing), turn-down service, in-room dining, full-service spa, full-service fitness center and shower and laundry facilities.
For entertainment, The Resort and Yacht Club at Toad Cove offers a full-service marina with boat and Wave Runner rentals as well as parasailing, a radiant-heated open-air pool area with swim-up beverage facilities, an outdoor waterfall and fire pit, two jacuzzis, a radiant-heated open-air sand volleyball court, martini and tiki bar and billiard room. The resort complex is home to several restaurants to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. From burgers and fries to mouth-watering seafood masterpieces, guests will not have to go far to suit their palates. A generously stocked wine cellar and two nightclubs are also located on the property. A popular summer concert series at the entertainment complex begins in June and runs throughout the summer. The concerts begin at 9:30 p.m. followed by a fireworks display. According to a recent company press release, “All net proceeds benefit the Kiwanis Club and local children’s charities.” Also, in a statement released by the resort, “In late September, the Horny Toad will offer the Offshore Super Series National Championships for power boats.” Big-name entertainment will be performing at the complex on each of the race nights.
Should you choose to leave the complex and explore other destinations at the Lake of the Ozarks, the resort offers a dedicated concierge staff who will work with guests and meeting planners offering suggestions, answering questions, handling off-site venue coordination and securing dining reservations. Taking it one step further, complimentary shuttle service is available to transport guests to a variety of locations at the Lake including premium retailers and golf courses. In addition, the Resort and Yacht Club offers discounted golf packages to resort guests at the Lake’s 14 golf courses, including its four signature courses. Guests even receive a sleeve of golf balls and bottled waters with the golf packages.
When asked if the resort is fully handicap accessible, Barnett states, “Absolutely!” The front entrance to the hotel is disabled-accessible as are the meeting spaces. Elevators are available for accessibility and there are no steps that have to be negotiated on either of the meeting room levels.
Prices for this all-suite premier complex range from $225 to $300 per night depending on what time of year your meeting is scheduled and the quantity of suites booked by a group or for a meeting. Group discounts are also based on the time of year and how many rooms are reserved.
The finishing touches are now complete and the standards have been set high. Now it is time to wait for the results. But one thing is for sure — the Resort and Yacht Club at Toad Cove has positioned itself as the premier resort at the Lake of the Ozarks, ready and willing to exceed all expectations.
