Let Your Imagination “Venture” While Planning an Event in the Cortex District

By MM&E Staff

Venture Café St. Louis is a networking event for innovators to mingle and form connections, taking place in CIC building #4240.  This gathering is one example of the many entrepreneurial events that take place in the St. Louis Cortex district.  Exclusively catered by 23 City Blocks, both the Cortex buildings contain several meeting and event spaces to accommodate different size gatherings.

Meet “Innovate”-tively

Innovation Hall is a program of Venture Café that utilizes the first floor of Cortex building #4220.  The space that occupies Innovation Hall can also be booked for corporate meetings and events.  Depending upon the number of attendees at your gathering, the Cortex building #4220 has several different spaces to choose from.

The Green and Pink Pod are two boardrooms that are two suitable spaces for corporate presentations, with the Green Pod seating up to 20 people boardroom style and 30 people theater-style, and the Pink Pod accommodating 10 people boardroom style and 20 people theater-style.  The Huddle Room is a smaller meeting space that seats 2-4 people at a roundtable.  Both Pods and the Huddle Room are equipped with audio/visual, a conference phone, presentation TVs, and a video conference system.

The Civic Lounge is a free public workspace that doubles as an event space during the evening and weekends.  In this room, there is an IdeaPaint writeable wall with whiteboard markers, a sound system, and soft seating.  This space fits 50-100 standing people.

The Assembly is the largest event space on the first floor of the Cortex, with acoustically-rated moveable walls to divide the space into three smaller rooms if needed or host large corporate networking events and presentations.  It can fit 300 people theater-style, 400 people standing, and 160-200 exhibitor rounds.  In addition, the full first floor used by Innovation Hall can be rented out as well.

Flavorful Flexibility
Meeting and event planners can customize their menu a couple of different ways when working with Cortex and 23 City Blocks.  Because the food is prepared onsite at The Chocolate Pig, Cortex building #4220, and offsite at 23 City Blocks, they can prepare any style menu.

Planners can also select menus offered at the company’s venues outside of the Cortex district, such as The Caramel Room at Bissinger’s.

Options upon Options
The customizability offered by the CIC and Cortex meeting and event spaces make both buildings unique and “innovative” venues that stimulates creativity.  Who knows what we may brainstorm when we meet and gather in an intellectually-empowering environment.
