Several national, international, and St. Louis organizations and associations are coming together to offer free community and virtual seminars on human trafficking and humans right throughout winter and spring 2020. Taking place in St. Louis and Jefferson City, attendees will learn about legislation, violence, and bringing awareness to the reality of human trafficking. Below are a list of events taking place from February to April.
Advocacy Done Right: 2020 Policy Series on Human Trafficking and Human Rights. Part I.

- Description: Part I compares the health care system and legislation relating to human trafficking and similar forms of violence between Missouri and Texas.

AMWA-PATH-HTCN LIFT Training for Healthcare Providers and Advocates:
- When: February 22 (Sat), 2020, 8:30am-1:00pm
- Where: Washington University Institute for Public Health (Medical campus), 600 S. Taylor, 2nd Floor, St. Louis, MO 63110
- Description: CME-accredited training curriculum to give health care professionals, social service providers, and community advocates in-depth training about human trafficking. The LIFT series highlights the scope and reach of human trafficking in the U.S., equips participants to recognize the signs of trafficking, and provides connections to trustworthy local resources. - Description: Part II dives into existing Safe Harbor laws to lean from other states’ successful strategies for legislation and implementation process.

- Description: In collaboration with MO-CATE, a community service provider panel in Part III will analyze gaps in legislative effort and implementation and attempts to make achievable recommendations, relating to HT and similar forms of violence.

St. Louis World Day Against Trafficking in Persons - When: July 24 (Fri), 2020, 9:30am-2pm

- The Second Annual Conference in honor of the United Nation’s World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (July 30, 2020). The overall objective is to bridge local trafficking agenda to evidence-based global trafficking information. This year’s emphasis is gender-based violence for all genders.

- Description: This is an annual sex trafficking awareness event in honor of the National Human Trafficking Awareness Month and Day (January 11). This year marks the final year organized by Sen. Nasheed’s office.
State-Wide CATE Meeting

- Description: Securing employment that provides economically secure wages can be a significant challenge for individuals who face obstacles to employment due to a lack of credentials, a criminal record, or care taking responsibilities. When job local opportunities are out of reach, how can survivors generate income? Working as an independent contractor may be an option.
