“Above All Else, Do No Harm”

July 27, 2013

Travel to the Greek island of Kos, birthplace of Hippocrates, the Father of Modern Medicine.  Known for its beautiful beaches, temperate climate, and archeological sites, Kos is also the yachting paradise of the Dodecanese.  Hippocrates founded the Hippocratic School of Medicine, separating it from other practices and for the first time establishing medicine as a profession.  With his methods of treating patients – diagnosing, treatment, and keeping records for other doctors to consult, he set the initial system that doctors use to this day.

What more meaningful place to repeat the Hippocratic Oath than at the ruins of the School of Medicine that he established, and visit the Plane Tree where he taught.  There is history, beauty, sea adventures, and nightlife all in one island.  Visit it for the next medical conference for truly a trip of a lifetime.
