June 5, 2012 - Kansas City, MO - Convention and business travelers arriving at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown June 13 will step into a setting unlike anything they’ve experienced in the city. Gone is the traditional lobby. In its place are three distinct yet interconnected zones that allow guests to arrive and depart efficiently, meet, work, socialize and partake in various dining and entertainment options. “It is well beyond a traditional hotel lobby,” says Cynthia Savage, director of marketing. “It is the heartbeat that redefines the guest experience.”
BARCENTRAL is the dynamic new reference point in the first floor. This social zone is highlighted by a coffee bar that transitions from day through evening. It is designed for downtown workers, residents and entertainment seekers as well as hotel guests wanting to jump start the morning with light breakfast fare or unwind in the evening over hand-crafted signature cocktails, wines by the glass and imported craft beers. Communal tables, ongoing food and beverage service, multi-media features with complimentary Internet access facilitate social and business engagement. Guests may take advantage of a 5-10-20 menu, which provides freshly prepared dishes in 5, 10 or 20 minutes to accommodate schedules.
Within BARCENTRAL is a new individual zone that creates personal space for working or relaxing within sight and sound of an energetic public gathering spot. The opening of the new first floor space signals the conclusion of the most transformational phase of a nearly $20 million multi-year makeover of Kansas City’s largest convention hotel. It will conclude in August with the new Concierge Lounge, the At Your Service Zone and the hotel’s three-meal-a-day restaurant. The At Your Service Zone is the reinvented arrival area in which traditional arrival/departure services as well as concierge and business services are conducted.
